Busy busy May so far: people are out buying houses like hotcakes! If you are thinking of listing your home, now is the time; lots of buyers in town and ready to move over the summer. Everyone likes to be settled before school starts and the holiday preparations begin, making spring/summer the opportune time to buy a home. There will be lots of extra people in town over the next few weeks because of Spoleto andPiccolo Spoleto as well. This is a good time to turn your yard into a work of art... curb appeal is your first impression!
Word to the wise buyers: Zillow is great at marketing, not so great at pricing houses. Charleston has a lot of variety and property values can be dramatically different from one block to the next. When you average everything together to make a price, it will be quite inaccurate. A water viewing home on South Battery is going to have a different value than a colonial era townhouse on Tradd Street, a cottage in Wagener Terrace, or a condo next to the college. All of these homes are within a few blocks of each other and could range from close to $10 million dollars down to $200,000. An average for the area is just not going to give you an accurate representation of the individual properties. My job is to help you determine the best price to offer based on comparable properties, if you are curious as to the going market price for a particular neighborhood... Reach out and ask your Realtor. I'd hate to find out someone missed out on their dream home because Zillow stated it was out of their price range....
